Need Community Service Hours? Check out this great opportunity from the United Way Suncoast!
"Did you know that by the 3rd grade many children are already behind in reading? Sadly, once they fall behind they never catch up. This is something we notice at United Way Suncoast and as a result we created the ReadingPals program http://unitedwaysuncoast.org/what-we-do/education/reading-pals/
Reading Pals is an after school program that specifically targets kindergarten through third grade students. Our volunteers spend time reading with our children one-on-one at least once a week for an hour. This may seem small but the impact that time has on the child is phenomenal.
We have realized that the harvest is great but the workers are few! Our children are in need and we need you. We are currently recruiting volunteers that can spend at least one hour a week or as consistent as possible reading, building relationships and mentoring our kids.
Our volunteers can be anyone high school aged or greater. We are located at the Riverview Boys and Girls Club on Kyrcul Avenue. The hours available are M-F from 3-6pm.
This is a great way for students to receive hours for scholarships or other school community service requirements. Or adults that are looking to give back to their community with their time."
